Always down for a little stripe-on-stripe action (does that sound weird?), I thought I would go for gold by pairing vertical and horizontal stripes, a no-no by most quadra-plus-generarian standards. Regardless, I'm digging the combo and how it just happened to perfectly match the backdrop... Talk about a happy accident! To illustrate the awesomeness of this outfit/backdrop combo-coincidence, I'd like to borrow these sage words from ICP: "There's enough miracles here to blow your brains... Magic everywhere in this bitch." Well said boys... well said.

Back to School with West 49...

Back to school is one of the most wonderful times of the year whether you're in school or not. The leaves turn red, new stationary is purchased (arguably the best part of all at least if you're a total dork like me!) and we get a chance to refresh our wardrobes with lovely new layers... What's not to like?

So when West 49 asked me to style a back to school outfit from their new fall collection, I jumped at the chance. The brand isn't traditionally my style, but their latest offerings intrigued me, especially this sweater. I instantly knew I had to have it, and my mind raced with all the different ways I could wear it. Since the weather is still rather lovely, I threw on shorts, a bowler hat and my trusty satchel for a simple, school-inspired look. The best part? As the months get cooler, I can easily transition this sweater by pairing it with pants and boots or patterned tights and a great skirt... Oh the possibilities.

I had lots of fun picking out my new pieces (and was seriously tempted by this dress!), and was surprised by how affordable they were (always a bonus, no?). All in all it was an awesome experience, and I would recommend checking out their stuff for some fun, casual basics, especially if you've never thought to look there before... You might just be surprised.

Go Time...

As you read this, I'm ransacking my closet, frantically packing for my trip to Greece. I'll be leaving later tonight, and couldn't be more excited... But that doesn't change my intense packing-related anxiety. I'm one of those people who likes to be prepared for anything; stinking-hot weather, a night on the town, Armageddon hey, you never know. Another equally shallow thing giving me anxiety today? What colour to paint my nails for this trip. I've had my nails bare for the last week which is normally unheard of in anticipation of, oh let's just go ahead and call it 'nail day.'  Do I want classic red? Mint? A snazzy neon? I can't make up my mind and the stress is getting to me... Help!

If you want to keep up with my trip over the next two weeks, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram! But if you would prefer the official recap when I return, that's cool too... Just enjoy the scheduled content I've prepared for you in the meantime. xx

Well hello there, lovelies! And happy long weekend Monday... If you're reading this, I'm probably driving home from Calgary, where I spent a lovely weekend catching up with family. Well, at  least past Vickie hopes so... You'll have to confirm that with future Vickie after the weekend's over ;)

Hope everyone had a fab weekend! xx

The Gossip Girl...

What do you think of when you look at this coat? Do images of Serena and Blair kicking it on the upper east side come to mind? Well they certainly do for me, and I'm guessing that they do for Sheinside, because they named it the Gossip Girl Double Button Coat. Coincidence? I think not.

I was so excited when it arrived in the mail last week, because not only was it a perfect fit, but the style was exactly what was missing from my life... It's just the right amount of preppy meets nautical, am I right?

And as if that weren't enough, Sheinside offered to give you guys 20% off any order from now until May 30 when you use the promo code "vickie20" at checkout! Not too shabby, huh? Thanks, Sheinside! xx

Blue Meets World...

You know when you see something and are instantly drawn to it, only you have no idea how to incorporate it into your wardrobe? Well that's what happened when I bought this skirt. It was bright, fun and super cheap (thank you, Forever 21!), but I couldn't for the life of me picture what to wear with it. I can typically picture a couple different looks when I'm shopping, and based on what I already have, I pick new pieces that will function with the rest... Well let me tell you, this was not one of those times. So after countless failed attempts, I gave up on greatness and settled for a simple t-shirt-and-polka-dot-tights combo. What do ya do.

Happy Monday, lovelies! xx
