My mister and I enjoyed an epic Sunday Funday yesterday that included a stop to an old, abandoned farm that was both creepy and fantastical all at once. I felt extreme guilt and anxiety passing the 'no trespassing' sign (scardy cat over here hates the idea of getting into trouble!), but I quickly got over those feelings (seriously Vickie, toughen up) when we starting exploring the site.

There's a haunting beauty to abandoned buildings (remember this gush-fest?), and this property that once held so much life and activity has been reduced to ruin and decay in the most fascinating way. There really is this strange, undeniable allure to the derelict I guess Mugatu actually was on to something... Malaysian prime minister assassination attempts aside.

As a self-proclaimed Instagram addict (and Celine admirer, of course), I feel like this shirt was pretty much made for me... In fact, short of a "I live off sugar" or "Pass the remote" type message, I don't think there could be a more fitting shirt for me... That Jules really cuts to the core of me (kind of like this). xx

Over the weekend, Mr. AiF and I ventured to an abandoned motel on the outskirts of town (well, sort of) to shoot some photos and have some lolz. I love old, derelict buildings, and since we've been watching our fair share of X-Files lately, this spot in particular spoke to both of us (and believe me, that's rare).

I love how the run-down setting of this post contrasts my bright, spring-ready outfit, and we had a lot of fun shooting there even though it felt like Slender Man was right around the corner the entire time. Hey, anything in the name of fashion, right? xx

Hello and happy Monday, friends! As you read this, I'll be doing one of three things: 1. sleeping in; 2. visiting my new local library; or 3. watching an old, black and white movie with Mr. AiF at the museum.... Ooooh yeah. In case you couldn't tell, I have the day off and I'm pretty dang excited. Not to rub it in or anything, but I'm probably doing an it's-Monday-and-I-don't-have-to-work happy dance this very moment. What can I say, life is good.

Have a fab day, lovelies! Whatever you do, don't work too hard... xx

{Style} Easy Layering...

There's no easier way to play with layers than with a simple blazer and neutral tights... Once you've got those down, the rest is a cinch. Looking back at this outfit, I would have liked to incorporate a patterned sweater to up the layering ante, but there's no use dwelling on that now... Dang you, hindsight. xx

{Style} Getting Thrifty With It...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Although I have much respect for those who can sift through heaps of vintage or second hand clothing and come up with enviable ensembles, I'm just not one of those people. Now don't get me wrong, I have serious love for vintage accessories and may be known to buy the occasional vintage silk blouse from time to time, but clothing just isn't my thing. So when my local newspaper challenged me to put together a thrifted, head-to-toe look for under $50, I suited up and in my very best Barney Stinson voice proclaimed "challenge accepted."

What I thought would take several hours and numerous stops surprisingly only took about 30 minutes, in which time I was able to score a sweet leather skirt, peach blouse, black wedges and chain necklace (above), as well as a velvet dress (yes, velvet), plaid shirt and braided belt to boot... Not bad if I say so myself!

You can read more about my experience here, and stay tuned to see how Marie and Andrew fare in their upcoming thrifting challenges... Happy Friday! xx

Outfit details: blouse- Zara; leather skirt- vintage; wedges- George; necklace- unknown (all items from Value Village)
