My mister and I enjoyed an epic Sunday Funday yesterday that included a stop to an old, abandoned farm that was both creepy and fantastical all at once. I felt extreme guilt and anxiety passing the 'no trespassing' sign (scardy cat over here hates the idea of getting into trouble!), but I quickly got over those feelings (seriously Vickie, toughen up) when we starting exploring the site.

There's a haunting beauty to abandoned buildings (remember this gush-fest?), and this property that once held so much life and activity has been reduced to ruin and decay in the most fascinating way. There really is this strange, undeniable allure to the derelict � I guess Mugatu actually was on to something... Malaysian prime minister assassination attempts aside.

Well my friends, it's official � I've become the crazy DIY lady. And despite the abundance of colourful balls adorning my torso, I actually left the house this way... Balls out, if you will. {Style} The Wonder Years...

I'm not sure if Kevin ever gave Winnie his varsity jacket back at McKinley High � or if he even wore varsity jackets, for that matter � but since I keep meaning to rewatch The Wonder Years (I'm currently deep in Felicity and Buffy the Vampire Slayer land), the title just felt right. I mean, can you think of anything more quintessentially "high school" than a varsity jacket? I keep picturing the Wakefield sisters (or some other stereotypical teen dream) running around in their boyfriends' oversized jackets looking all cute and popular... But as someone who had neither the boyfriend nor the varsity jacket in high school, the closest I can get is this Forever 21 version I bought for myself well into adulthood... Hey, it's never too late. xx

{Style} Classic Camo...

I've been a very busy bee lately, which hasn't left much time for things like proper nutrition, nails that are unchipped and, well, blog musings that are halfway interesting. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm sleep-typing this very post. Yawn. To quit while I'm ahead (read: semi-conscious), I'll leave you with this one realization: I've never met a print combination that I haven't liked. Camo and leopard? Bring it on. The only thing that could top this would be some sweet geometric or polka dot action... Or preferably both. The busier the better, unless you're talking about my life, in which case I revert back to my original statement � You know, something about malnourishment, ugly nails, and... zzzz

{DIY} Striped Heels...

The minute I saw these Zara heels, I knew my hoarding ways had finally paid off. That's right my friends, my inability to throw away these ancient Aldo kitten heels facilitated my recreation of these striped beauties. Can you say vindication? Anyway, if you have a pair of old, disposable shoes lying around too, you may just want to try this DIY for yourself... Porque no?

Here's what you have to do:




1. Start by taping stripes across the shoe. I used Scotch tape because the width of the tape worked perfectly for the desired stripe size.
2. Secure the tape firmly under the shoe to ensure no paint seeps under the tape.
3. Continue taping both shoes, taking care to mask any surfaces you do not want painted.
4. Place a tape strip around the heel of your shoe, taking care to make the line as straight as possible.
5/6. Apply a thick, even layer of leather-friendly paint to the surface of your shoe and heel. Reapply  as needed.
7. Allow several hours for dry time. I let mine do their thing overnight to make sure there wasn't any funny business.
8. Carefully remove the strips of tape. If you're not gentle during this process you might flake off some of the paint. Go over any imperfections with a black Sharpie (my savior!)
9. Take your new baby's out on the town � You've earned it.

Alright, you've got me � this post has nothing to do with Anchorman. Regardless, I just couldn't resist the title. Ron or no Ron, burgundy is pretty legendary, no? It's one of my go-to shades of the season, and, well, let's just say that it plays nicely with other neutrals... What a colour. I would go so far as to say that I love it almost as much as I love � to quote one of the brightest minds of cinematic history � lamp. xx

{Valentine's Week} The Pants...

As I write this, I'm slowly coming down from a sugar-induced Valentine's day high (you don't even want to know how many macarons I've had today!), where lethargy and writers block are apparently the main side effects. Mr. AiF surprised me with some special treats, bubbly and a homecooked meal, and now I'm crashing... hard. So with that said, it's time to wrap this thing up, people!
